# Delete your ardeo account

You can delete your account and its data at any time, from inside the app.

## How

Open **Settings** in the app and tap **Delete account**. Confirming signs you
out immediately, and your account is fully removed from our servers within 30
days.

If you've lost your phone, or lost access to the address you signed in with,
email **[ksyong1964@gmail.com](mailto:ksyong1964@gmail.com)** from the address
you signed in with, with the subject **Delete my account**. That subject line
matters — the same address handles support and privacy, and it is how deletion
requests get picked out. If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your
email address, say so in the message and include your display name — we will
verify another way rather than ask you to reveal it.

## What gets deleted

- Your profile, display name, handle and photo
- Every walk you recorded, including its statistics and note
- The coverage squares recorded against your walks
- Anything else you wrote in the app

If you're the only owner of a group, the group — and everyone's membership in
it — is deleted along with your account.

There is no stored route line to delete. ardeo never uploads one — see the
[privacy policy](./privacy.md).

Data held only on your own phone is removed when you delete the app.

## What does not get deleted

**The coverage counts you contributed remain.**

A coverage count records that an area was prayed over on a given day. It has
no person attached to it and cannot be traced back to you, so those counts
stay. Other people's records of their own neighbourhoods are built from the
same totals, so removing yours would corrupt theirs.

Nothing that identifies you survives deletion.

## Timing

Deleting your account in the app is immediate: you're signed out straight
away, and removal from our servers completes within 30 days. If you email us
instead, the same 30-day removal starts once we've confirmed it's really you,
which we aim to do within a few days.

Backups are purged on their normal rotation, which can take up to a further 30
days — after that, no copy remains.
